Virtual Session | With Minority Development Committee members from Punjab

Local Councils Association of The Punjab (LCAP) with the partnership of CLGF held a virtual session with Minority Committee Members from Punjab. The session was opened by Mr. Anwar Hussain, Executive Director LCAP, with the detailed discourse of objectives and achievements of local Councils Associations of Pakistan. He also shared the willingness of LCAs to work for marginalised segments of local governments in Punjab and across Pakistan. The queries about Challenges and problems faced by Minorities were formulated and catered by Ms. Maham Ahmed, Women and Minority Inclusion Officer, LCAs.
All the participants from Minority Community shared reservations about the unequal distribution of funds among Minority Councillors.
They expressed the need for technological Literacy and equal opportunities at work.

Unaware of their own rights

Participants showed a great deal of response while mentioning the alienation from educational and technological resources. They further explained that it is unacceptable for any community to not exercise equal rights when the worthy constitution of the state permits. Minority Members have also expressed willingness to be trained by LCA for upcoming elections.

Future steps

The data of the meeting will be analysed and after additional surveys and interviews a Strategic Plan for Minority Development will be formed in the upcoming days
