LCAP & Govt. to organize awareness seminars related to local governments across Punjab

The government will soon call in a top-level meeting of civil society and local government experts.

Chairman (PTI Group), LCAP, Ch. Zahid Iqbal, Executive Director, LCAP, Anwar Hussain and Senior journalist Salman Abid had Meeting with Hon. Provincial Minister for Local Government and Community Development, Mian Mehmood ur Rasheed. Opposition Leader of Metropolitan Corporation Lahore Afeef Siddique was also present during the meeting.

Mian Mehmood Ur Rasheed said that delivery of basic amenities for the public and solutions to their problems is available in strong, effective, functional and financially independent local government. He urged local government experts and civil society organizations to support him in devising practical strategies. He wishes to include all the stakeholders in a consultation to implement better local government legislation in Punjab.

In the meeting, it is decided that the Government of the Punjab with the collaboration of the local councils association of the Punjab will organize awareness seminars, debates and other relevant sessions related to local governments across Punjab. In this regard, Government will soon call in a top-level meeting of civil society and local government experts.

لوکل کونسلز ایسوسی ایشن آف دی پنجاب کے چیرمین زاہد اقبال چوہدری ، ایگزیکٹو ڈائریکٹر انور حسین اور  سنیئر صحافی سلمان عابد کی صوبائی وزیر برائے لوکل گورنمنٹ و کیمونٹی ڈویلپمینٹ میاں محمود الرشید سے خصوصی ملاقات  ہوئی۔ اس موقع پر لیڈر آف دی اپوزیشن میٹروپولیٹن کارپوریشن لاہور عفیف صدیقی بھی موجود تھے ۔

گفتگو کرتے ہوئے صوبائی وزیر میاں محمود الرشید نے کہا کہ حکومت لوکل گورنمنٹس کے مضبوط ، موثر ، فعال اور مالیاتی اعتبار سے خودمختار نظام کو  نچلے طبقے تک عوام کو بنیادی سہولیات کی فراہمی اور مسائل کے حل کا ذریعہ سمجھتی ہے اس ضمن میں عملی اقدامات کے لیے مقامی حکومتوں کے ماہرین  اور سول سوسائٹی  تنظیمات ہمارا دست و بازو بنیں ۔ہم مشاورتی عمل میں تمام اسٹیک ہولڈرز کو شامل کریں گے تاکہ پنجاب میں بہتر لوکل گورنمنٹ کا قانون لایا جاسکے۔

ملاقات میں اتفاقِ رائے سے طے کیا گیا کہ اگلی میٹنگ میں پنجاب حکومت اور لوکل کونسلز ایسوسی ایشن آف دی پنجاب باہمی مشاورت سے پنجاب بھر میں مقامی حکومتوں کے حوالہ سے معلوماتی سیمینارز ، مذاکروں اور آگاہی مہم سے متعلقہ سرگرمیوں کاشیڈول طے کریں گے ۔

جبکہ اس حوالہ سے پنجاب حکومت ، سول سوسائٹی اور مقامی حکومتوں کے ماہرین کا اعلی سطحی مشاورتی اجلاس جلد بلایا جائے گا
